Different stocks have different board lots and fluctuation sizes as dictated by its current price. If you want to order a stock that is currently trading at 2.00, then the stock’s board lot is 1,000 shares. The number of shares that you can buy should be divisible by its board lot (in this case 1,000 shares). Therefore, the system will reject your order if for example you order 1,200 or 3,500 shares since they are not divisible by 1,000.
